The exotic and glamorous songstress Thara set the music industry abuzz when she dropped her debut album "The H is Silent" in 2008. Staying true to her passion, the spiritual Thara didn’t shy away from pursuing her other interest, Bikram Yoga and she became an instructor. But music was always a big part of her life and in 2009 she recorded the track "Maybe" with R&B star John Legend.
So what is the sexy songstress up to now? Well, her beauty is complimenting Desi couture as she models for designer Mani Kohli’s Khubsoorat Collection.
"I was introduced to Geetanjali, one of the company owners and an amazing designer, by a friend. We clicked when we met and it all just happened very organically since their 25th anniversary was coming up. And I was honored to be asked to help them celebrate as I loved their story and who they are as a family and a brand," Thara told us.
Sporting sexy sarees and traditional Anarkhalis, Thara is the new face of Khubsoorat and she exhumes the rich culture and appreciation for fusion that the brand represents.
"Well I think their brand really represents who I am when it comes to my culture and traditions. As some of you know, my father is Indian and my mother is mixed and I was born and raised in New Jersey. So that being said, my life is a fusion of Indian and western traditions. Like many others from my generation, we all have a strong sense of our culture and roots but we've also been raised in a western society. And that's what I love about Khubsoorat's line. It’s a fusion of both worlds. They take beautiful Indian designs and design them with a modern western twist giving their clothes such a beautiful edge. That's what attracted me to them," explained Thara.
Whether she is making music or anything else Thara is always true to herself.
"I think all of the photos show a little piece of me; from my fun side to my sassy side to the side of me who loves to be dressed up like a glamour doll! That's the fun part of photo shoots; you get to play dress up!"
Thara looks lovely in this dusty pink dress. The outfit accentuates the top of her torso with an embroidered band. The same embroidery can be seen on the capped sleeves.
Sexy siren in red! Thara dons a funky red outfit reminiscent of classic Bollywood. The dress is similar to the one Shilpa Shetty wore in "Dus" and we love it!
Thara looks elegant in this white and gold lengha; perhaps a choice for a modern bride. The sleeveless, tube top style blouse looks great and we think Thara pulls off the look quite well.
This sapphire saree is extremely elegant. There's a dash of glitter and the added embroidery is a statement.
The traditional Anarkali look is back! Thara wears a nude churidaar iced in silver embroidery; simply stunning!
