"ViVa!" We caught up with the singer to see what she has to offer on this album, and also see what sparked her effectuation and love for Indian culture that she has been buzzing about. Kat Deluna tells us, "I think Indian women are so sexy, I love the way they dress." Find out what more Kat Deluna says about her next venture.
DH!: Your debut album 9 Lives was a hit in 2007, in 2008 you dropped your sophomore album, "Inside Out," What have you been up to these day?
Kat: Finishing touches on ViVa the American version of the album. Some European countries released their version called Inside Out.
DH!: Tell me about the type of music on the new album?
Kat: It's the Latin clubby world sound that came with a new sound that I was generating in 2007. I still want to remain with that sound but, I want to try showcasing my vocals more on this album which has slow melodic songs on it too.
DH!: Is there any collaboration to look out for on this album or in general?
Kat: There are very little because I want to focus on Kat Deluna. In the past I have collaborated with Akon and Lil Wayne.
DH!: Let's talk a bit about your life before you became a pop singer, you mother raised you and she came to this country from the Dominican Republic. Did she have issues supporting your risky aspirations to be a singer?
Kat: I was lucky because, both my parents wanted to be singers but didn't have the opportunity to while they were growing up. So they were supportive. Life wasn't easy for me being raised by a single mother, but she always supported my career. She understood that I had a dream and knew I had a talent. She was 100 percent behind me.
DH!: We hear you really dig Indian culture, where does this love stem from?
Kat: I think I am an Indian woman mixed with a Latina women! Growing up every Sunday since I was little my mom would put on the Indian channel and me and my sister would dance. I had a lot of Indian friends and Indian influences. I did a whole Bollywood dance class before. I'm just interested in it. It inspires me.
DH!: So when are you visiting India?
DH!: If I could be in India right now I would be. My two aunts are ready to come with me when I go.
DH!: What are some of your favorite countries?
Kat: France is one of my favorite countries in Europe, big part of my euro career. Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Romania too.
DH!: Since you love India so much, do you have a message for your Desi fans?
Kat: India wait for me! It's going to happen. Let's make history. Kat Deluna goes to India & Bollywood let's go!
